Engineering
Our engineering staff really differentiates us from our competitors.
Our engineers are degreed mechanical engineers, with decades of manufacturing experience. We understand how mechanisms function. We can work with your engineers and ask the right questions to truly improve the function and manufacturability of your product.
We can provide solutions to difficult manufacturing problems. Special fixturing and gaging has been developed to improve through put while improving quality. One such example is the special chuck, designed and built in house, and used to produce automotive transmission components. Roundness due to chucking pressure was a terrible problem, slowing production and causing excessive scrap. A chuck was developed that reduced scrap due to distortion to near zero, and improved cycle time. The net result was a near doubling of output.
Consider another example where a special part feature was designed into our customer's product. This feature allows us to grind both ends of the part between centers in one operation. The net result is near zero run out diameter to diameter and face to face, and the elimination of one operation. There are many more.
The ability to design and build fixtures and gages in-house provides invaluable insights used to produce better tooling. Unexpected manufacturing problems can be solved quickly. Better tooling means better parts faster. In-house design and production provides better cost control of the fixture/gage, and shorter start up lead times.
Complicated parts with many operations provide special problems. Manufacturing process control of these parts can be enhanced through the use of in-process drawings. Ours aren't just sketches. They are fully developed, well planned in-process drawings. This provides our employees with all the information they need to produce quality parts. Manufacturing dimensions such as allowances for heat treat growth, pre-plate dimensions, pre-grind dimensions, and in-process dimensions for additional operations are carefully calculated.
Combine our innovation, engineering, and processing/production expertise with our machining, material control, and quality capabilities to create a competitive advantage for your business. These capabilities will help you achieve and sustain a competitive advantage over your competition. Give us a try, you might be surprised.
At PGI we always strive to supply the best value possible to our
customers!
