Centerless Grinding

Example Centerless Grinding Parts
A customer that makes food processing equipment supplies us with a powdered metal injection molded blank. We centerless grind the OD and face to bring to the final size.
A spool for the fluid controls industry. The part is swiss machined, heat treated, then centerless ground. Both diameters are ground in the same operation to ensure concentricity is controlled. The final diameter is ground to a .0002” total tolerance.
This industrial needle has multiple operations before being chrome plated and ground to final size. Afterwards, we swage the piston assembly on to the needle then package it in custom packaging.
A key step in the production of this valve needle, PGI is able to centerless grind both small OD’s and the radii between them in a single operation. This ensures straightness and concentricity are held, which is critical for the subsequent grinding and brazing operations.
